ICT Barriers in South African Education

There are ICT barriers in South African Education as some school still do not have access to ICT
The barriers are;

  • Lack of time
  • Lack of access
  • Lack of training
  • Lack of technical support
  • Resistance change
  • Cost and crime
Many schools do not have information or knowledge about technology and some schools do not have money for such things as there are schools that need textbooks instead of technology so poverty is one of the barriers that leads to schools not having ICT. Some schools do not have money to access ICT but even if they do they cannot maintain the standard of it because they can have computers but do not have knowledge about how to use the computers.

At my school the barriers we came across were: not having experience,not having technical support,lack of time and also crime.We knew they were computers but they never taught us how to use them or when to use them.The computers were few if we wanted to access information they had to do it for us and make copies of the same information. They stole our computers making it even more difficult for us to be technologically advanced.

At my school we lacked many things when it came to technology because my school is situated in a place that is still developing so we did not have information about technological things back then.I believe now things are going to change but back then it was very hard to access information through a computer but now teachers are even having their own laptops meaning they are becoming technologically advanced
